With Thanks to YOU, ECF Celebrates 75 Years of Impact

Today, on November 1st, All Saints Day, The Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF) pauses to remember and give thanks for all who have made our 75-year journey possible – starting with YOU, our partners, supporters, and clients, along with our dedicated staff and three generations of leaders who have forged a path forward for ECF, keeping us relevant and ready to serve:

  • Our Founder, Bishop Henry Knox Sherrill, whose expansive Christian vision inspired him to create ECF as an independent, lay-led organization dedicated to supporting the health, growth, and adaptation of The Episcopal Church through changing times.

  • Our President, Donald Romanik, who completes his 19-year tenure at the end of this year, leaving ECF with a litany of accomplishments and a legacy of growth, resilience, and adaptability.

  • Our Honorary Chair Former Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe whose pastoral leadership of The Episcopal Church and flexible partnership with ECF continue the tradition of clergy-lay cooperative leadership set by Bishop Sherrill from ECF’s inception.

  • Our Directors, Advisors, and Board Chairs have provided insight, foresight, investment, and accountability to keep ECF true to its charter and on course for continued impact.

To mark this seminal moment in ECF’s history, we gathered for a lively and informative conversation with ECF’s Circle of Chairs, 6 of ECF’s past Board Chairs who served during Donald Romanik’s 19-year presidency. Together with ECF’s Directors and Advisors, The Circle of Chairs has helped guide ECF over the past 25 years – throughout the 21st century – covering one-third of ECF’s history. Listen in on this living history as we give thanks “For All The Saints” who have contributed to The Episcopal Church and ECF over the years.
