The Episcopal Church Foundation designates April 16th as ECF Day to celebrate 75 years of service

April 9, 2024, New York, NY – The Episcopal Church Foundation designates April 16th as ECF Day to celebrate 75 years of service

2024 marks the Episcopal Church Foundation’s (ECF) 75th year of dedicated ministry and service to The Episcopal Church. ECF is designating April 16th as ECF Day and invites Episcopalians everywhere to participate in thanksgiving celebrations for the ministry of the organization.

In 1949, the Rt. Rev. Henry Knox Sherrill founded ECF amidst a period of growth and transformation within the Church and the nation. His vision was clear: to advance the mission of the Church through accessible resource creation and management, and to foster effective lay-clergy partnerships. For 75 years, ECF has lived into this vision, evolving continually to meet the changing needs of The Episcopal Church and society at large.

On its 75th anniversary, ECF stands as a testament to what can be achieved when faith meets action. ECF continues to be a wellspring of support for Episcopal faith communities, providing resources for financial management, leadership development, and community transformation. ECF’s mission today is to be a catalyst, agent, and advocate for transformation and growth in The Episcopal Church in innovative and spiritually-grounded ways.

As ECF celebrates its 75th anniversary and moves into the future with renewed hope and dedication, April 16th will be celebrated as ECF Day by staff, board, partners, and supporters, as well as Episcopal congregations and communities everywhere.

Please consider participating in ECF Day by:

  • Praying for ECF during a Sunday service
  • Sharing information about ECF in bulletins and announcements
  • Including ECF news in monthly newsletters or social media

Materials and more information can be found here.

ECF’s 75th anniversary theme is "Strengthening Faith, Transforming Ministries" and the organization’s goals for this milestone year reflects a dedication to growth and transformation in The Episcopal Church and beyond:

  • Expanding Impact: Continuing to live into a vision of creating, supporting, and nourishing vital, inclusive and sustainable faith communities that create steadfast followers of Jesus.
  • Strategic Advancement: Raising funds to support new strategic directions and under-resourced groups, ensuring that programs and initiatives continue to meet the evolving needs of faith communities.
  • Gratitude in Action: Thanking donors, clients, constituents, and friends, whose loyalty and support have been the backbone of ECF success over these many years.
  • Honoring Legacies: Celebrating the enduring legacies of ECF founders and key contributors, including ECF President Donald Romanik, whose vision continues to guide the organization through this milestone year.

ECF remains committed to strengthening faith and transforming ministries within Episcopal communities, now and in the future.
