ECF's Reproductive Rights Resource Hub -- Coming soon

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JUNE 27, 2022 NEW YORK, NY -- The Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF) stands in support of our Presiding Bishop in grieving the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court which overturned the constitutional right to abortion that was in place for almost 50 years. In his statement last Friday, Bishop Curry reaffirmed the long standing position of the Episcopal Church on equitable access to reproductive health care as “an integral part of a woman’s struggle to assert her dignity and worth as a human being” and the church’s opposition to any governmental action that “abridges the right of a woman to reach an informed decision or that would limit access of a woman to a safe means of acting on her decision”. The impact of this action will be especially felt in marginalized communities and for those individuals who lack consistent access to health care services.

Bishop Curry urged Episcopalians to make our voices heard in a way we feel called. As the struggle for reproductive rights now moves to the state level, we encourage faith communities to become engaged in action and advocacy within your own context, to influence your elected officials regarding this fundamental right. To facilitate and support this process, ECF will sponsor and maintain a “Reproductive Rights Resource Hub” where people throughout the church could post their stories, strategies, communications, ideas, prayers and even worship services in support of a woman’s right to choose. Stay tuned for further details on this initiative.

Please know that ECF is here to support all of our local faith communities as together we help followers of Jesus live out their faith in the world during these incredibly challenging times.
